retro rehab1 retro rehab sale event, manchester

Retro Rehab on Oldham Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter is my absolute favourite of the many vintage stores in the area. Their stock is displayed really well which makes shopping there a real treat, as well as the carefully selected garments being free from the musky smell that is usually a given with vintage clothes. Retro Rehab has price points for all pockets too… I have bagged myself so many lovely bargains in this place!

Next Thursday the store will be holding a sale night where you will find 100’s of items from just £1 and reworked dresses from £5. Make sure you pick up a ticket for £5 in store beforehand to gain entry into the event which you can exchange for a fiver off your bill on the night!

I’d love you know if anyone of you are planning on making an appearance?!

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to have been able to attend opening of the first Manchester City Co photography exhibition in the Triangle, Manchester.

This is a free exhibition running from the 9th to the 29th July and is the result of a day of amateur photographers taking to the streets of Manchester earlier this year armed with their Nikons and ideas. The Exhibition features 28 images chosen from 300 that were submitted by 100 photographers. Each has shown Manchester in their own unique way, from the city’s architecture to its people.

Undefeated by Paul Sherriff

The night was made even more special by seeing my dad, Paul Sherriff’s work up at the exhibition. His photograph, Undefeated, was a definite stand out piece on the night and has even been featured in local newspapers Manchester Evening News and Wigan Observer.

My other favourite images of the evening where from photographers Tony Milner and Dan Sleater who I felt captured the quirkiness of the City.

The exhibition is open between 10am and 6pm 7 days at week on the basement level of the Triangle. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area! If you would like to take part in the next photography day with the chance to have your own work featured in the next exhibition, see here for more information.

topshop summer sale – now on woohoo!

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

I just love it when I carry out my daily Topshop website check to see what is ‘new in’ when bam! I see that today is the first day of their summer sale! This makes me very giddy as I live just minutes away from the huge Manchester store where there are usually dozens of sale rails, but also very sad as I only get paid tomorrow and my bank balance is looking very unhealthy as of late (thanks to visits to London GFW, Scottish weddings, numerous meals out and impulse purchases…!) . For all of you who can splurge on a few end of the month purchases, click here for more …

P.S I had planned to show you my favourite sale items aswell but my internet connection has fallen out with me today.

graduate fashion week 2010

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Hello! This Thursday myself and my friend Melissa went down to London to take a look at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week. We were both exhausted after catching the train at 6.11 am…! The morning ran much more smoothly than last year’s event when the entire London underground was on strike – eek! It took about 5 hours to get across from Euston to Earls Court (not so fun).

Graduate Fashion Week 2010

After being set uni summer projects before we start back for our final year at the University of Huddersfield in September, we were both after some much needed inspiration to get us back into design projects. Here are the photos I took of the best work I saw at GFW, sorry for not being able to include the student’s name and University – it was a little hectic down there! (please get in touch if you do know so I can rightly credit the photos with the designers name!)

We spent the afternoon shopping on Regents Street and Oxford Street before meeting up with our friend Joanne for tea and drinks. We are doing our design project on the gorgeous store Anthropolgie so it was great to finally get down to London to see the store for ourselves. Unfortunately we didn’t see much to buy in London but I did get a long black jersey maxi skirt (I’ve become a little obsessed with anything maxi …) and Melissa got a great pair of wedges from Primark with lace up detailing.

Huddersfield Graduate Fashion Show 2010

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Each year my University puts on a fashion show which features collections from both final year students and first and second year projects. This year the show will be held on Tuesday 15th June, 2010 at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and tickets can be purchased here. It is always a great event with lots of fabulous original work.

Manchester 10k Run

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Just wanted to share with you all that on Sunday I completed my first 10K race! I didn’t actually think I could ever finish one of these and it really was tough, but I did it! I urge anyone who would like to do one of these but keeps putting it off to just get your trainers on and keep going for it … if I can do it, anybody can! Well done to all those who took part and for raising so much for great causes.
